This summer, I had the pleasure of celebrating the reveal of El Mero Taco's new cocktail bar. In partnership with cocktail consultants Pour Taste, El Mero’s brand-new bar hosts the area's largest library of agave spirits and the Mid-South's first Mezcaleria.

An interview with Memphis music artist Tyke T.

Duke Ellington, Gladys Knight and Isaac Hayes—the names unfurled on brass stars beneath his feet as Tyke T searched for an entrance. “I went to the wrong door,” says the Memphis-based hip-hop artist, “That tells you how unfamiliar I was with the Orpheum.” 

The living aren’t the only beings you can find walking in Memphis.

A bitter chill blasted through the balcony of the Orpheum Theatre. It seemed to pass directly through me as an Opera Memphis cast rehearsed for an opening night just days away. Immediately, I bounded down the nearby stairwell in a sprint. 

At age nine, I had just experienced my first encounter with one of the most well-known ghosts of Memphis.

We were all cheering in April when Memphis-based interior designer (and overall fabulous person) Carmeon Hamilton crushed the competition for HGTV’s show Design Star: Next Gen. In a talented pool of designers from around the country, her sense of style came out on top.

Outdoors and fitness festival alert! 

The three-day outdoors- and fitness-oriented fest is back for a second year in downtown Memphis this weekend, November 4-6. Hosted by Discover Memphis Naturally, they’re calling it “3 days of revelry by the river” and I think it’s a fabulous idea!
