Volunteer Odyssey shared this list of local groups that need your help this month!
It’s the last month of Volunteer Odyssey’s Summer of Service so let’s make this one really rock! Our local nonprofits need extra volunteer support over the summer to knock out both major projects and take care of their everyday, ongoing needs.
So far, Memphis served 4,400 hours with our 60+ nonprofit partners. We highlighted Environment & Conservation efforts in June, then Hunger & Homelessness charities in July.
This month, they’ll focus mostly on Arts & Education, but check out the 2 bonus ways to serve that are really fun! Make your impact with one of these opportunities below or navigate your own journey & choose from their calendar.
1.Latino Memphis needs Bilingual Volunteers for a Child Immunization Event

This particular Community Care Fair is designed especially for Spanish-speaking residents of Shelby County. We need you to make sure that they have equitable access to essential health services!
2. Support Overton Park Shell’s Free Concert Series
Most weekend evenings starting Friday, August 30th 5:30 - 10:00 pm
Overton Park Shell is celebrating 70 years of rock and roll with their ongoing free music series. Serve as a Puppy Bar Bark-tender who make sure the furry guests have plenty of water & treats. Or help keep the series going as part of the Bucket Brigade or one of the Survey Squad.
3. Help WYXR in the Memphis Listening Lab put on a free music seminar
Wednesday, August 14th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm
Community radio station WYXR invites the public to Memphis Listening Lab at Crosstown for a free music seminar celebrating rare albums from Memphis’ musical past each month. These are the often unheard albums that have become cult favorites over time, as local musicians share memories of them backstage at venues across the city and dedicated collectors search feverishly to add them to their record shelves. For the fifth Stereo Session of 2024, they will be highlighting "Dreamworld" the 1995 release by Blackout. Volunteers will help set up, break down, and sign in attendees during the event.
4. Serve with GPAC’s Happy Hour in The Grove
Every Friday in August from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Love to have you add The House of Mews volunteering needs to your lineup? www.houseofmews.com
We could use some morning volunteers 7-9am any one of 7 mornings a week, caring for the kitties and cleaning the store, learning medications, leading a crew, all things you learn as well as how to take care of your own kitty inexpensively, learning to notice troubling signs of possible illness, etc.
