Hello and Welcome to the I Love Memphis blog!
Here are a few things you might want to know about this blog.
Purpose
This blog is a resource for what’s going on in Memphis: music, food, arts, events, sports, people, culture, and anything else that makes us special. Memphians love Elvis and barbecue with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place. This blog aims to show that through stories written from an honest, local perspective.
Background
Kerry Crawford was the first I Love Memphis blogger from 2009 to 2013. During her tenure, she helped ignite a passion for Memphis by sharing parts of the city that are lovable. In September 2013, Holly Whitfield came on board. For nearly a decade, Holly has loved Memphis hard, helping grow the blog with innovative and must-see content, and she’s embraced every social media platform that has come along in that time. The ILoveMemphisBlog.com alone has generated well over 10 million page views during her time leading the site while developing a loyal audience from Memphis and beyond.
In January 2023, Jalyn Souchek became the third person to run the blog as Director of Content. She's not alone in the work with Tyra Johnson joining the team in December 2022 as the first full time content creator to assist the blog. We also work with other writers, contributors, photographers, and partners to produce everything on the website and social media. We also get support from my talented colleagues (and fellow Memphis lovers) at Memphis Tourism.
Loving Memphis
It’s important to tell people that you love them, but the real love comes from learning more about what makes them tick, supporting them despite their rough edges, and just having fun with them. I bet you can see where I’m going with this. (Hint: replace “them” with “Memphis”.)
Reader Input
We spend our days searching the city and talking to as many people as I can, but I need your help, too. If you have an upcoming event, submit it to the calendar. Tell me what’s going on in your neighborhood. Tell me about the things you find that are offbeat and off-the-beaten-path. Your constructive feedback is welcome and helpful!
Site Redesign
I Love Memphis Blog has gone through a few updates and redesigns in its 15 years. The latest version launched on Valentine's Day 2021, with a totally new look, new illustrations, and improved organization that makes it easier for you, dear reader, to find all the Memphis info you can handle.
