Celebrate Memphis' AAPI community this Lunar New Year with traditional lion dances, food specials, live music, and more.

Lunar New Year begins on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse—a year associated with confidence, energy, passion, and forward momentum.

From cultural performances to special menus and community celebrations, there’s no shortage of ways to ring in the new year across Memphis.

New Restaurant Alert: The Lobbyist

Downtown Memphis has a new restaurant but the face behind it is a familiar one.

The Lobbyist is open for business! This new modern restaurant is all about bringing in natural and local ingredients to bring out extraordinary flavors. Their mission is to provide food that is a reflection of who we are and where we come from with a melting pot approach of culture and global styles.

You may recognize the name behind The Lobbyist..

Shop Local: 17 Berkshire

I live for a vanilla latte and lavender macaron, and there’s nothing quite like grabbing one from 17 Berkshire. Inspired by watching her mother sew and bake while growing up, owner Nuha Abuduhair started 17 Berkshire out of her home in 2015 before opening her own business in Overton Square the Summer of 2018. The patisserie’s bright aesthetic, with marble table tops and wainscotting on the wall, is an instagrammer’s dream.

The Next Chapter Of I Love Memphis

I have big news.

Writing the I Love Memphis Blog, sharing the best of our city, meeting so many of y’all over the years, and helping visitors discover Memphis—it’s been the most meaningful and rewarding experience of my life.

That’s why, after 9-and-a-half years, it’s bittersweet to announce that next Friday I’ll log into I Love Memphis for the last time. I’m not leaving Memphis, though! I have the amazing opportunity to join the team at The Daily Memphian as their Digital Director.

Classic Memphis: Bob’s Barksdale Diner In Midtown

A midtown institution was taken out of commission for months when a Corvette careened through the front door in 2022. They came back better than ever, serving up diner-style breakfasts, plate lunches, and friendly service to Midtowners.

Bert McElroy should have been in harm’s way when it happened. In June 2022, a red Chevrolet Corvette came crashing through the front door of Bob’s Barksdale Restaurant, a Cooper-Young institution that McElroy has worked at for a decade.

Shop Local: Paper & Clay

Owner Brit in her shop

Memphis is overflowing with talented, creative artisans, and one of my favorites to visit is Brit McDaniel, founder and owner of Paper & Clay. Founded in 2013, Paper & Clay is both a modern, handmade ceramics brand, and a cute brick & mortar gift shop located downtown at 535 S. Main Street.

In addition to her own handmade wares, Brit has curated a beautiful gift shop filled with indie brands and products that compliment her Scandinavian + Mid-Century design aesthetic.
