Take a Trip to the Lost Cantina in a Neighborhood Not Far, Far Away

Midtown is hiding a secret toy store pulled straight from another galaxy

The rumors have been spreading for a while now, orange stickers on light posts and street signs from Summer Avenue to South Main. Here and there, vigilant Memphians could see signs of something mysterious, something new—The Lost Cantina.

Ever one to seek out the lost, dusty corners of our city that somehow fall off of the tour maps, I set out in search of this fabled establishment on a recent autumn afternoon.

What I found was no bar.

Grab your floaties! The Memphis Showboats are back for their first game set for March 30, at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

The Memphis Showboats will return for their third season with a home game against Michigan on March 30. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. under interim head coach Jim Turner. Turner was the offensive line coach but was elevated to the head coach position after the team's head coach Ken Whisenhunt had to step away for personal reasons.

Shop Local: Feast & Graze Charcuterie Shop and Cafe

One of Memphis' best charcuterie, cheese, and vegan snack board shop and cafe.

I’ve said many times before that I could survive solely on a charcuterie board, and especially if it’s a specialty board from Feast & Graze

Editor's Note (2/12/24): Feast & Graze can now be found at the Brooks Museum with a Poplar Plaza store coming soon. Photos and some information in this blog may reflect the first location. Be sure to visit their new spot!

Why the city’s newest Beale Street hotel is already a hub for Memphians working remotely.

Ed. Note: Check out the first of a new series from contributor Joe Sills featuring hidden gems and Memphis favorites. Joes's Gems, if you will. We'll kick off the series with some bragging rights: when Hyatt decided to create a new brand of hotel, the "Caption", they chose Memphis as the very first location. Nice!

Late Night Eats and Catalan Cocktails at Pantá In Memphis

Ed. Note: Kim went to investigate Pantá, a Spanish tapas restaurant and cocktail bar in midtown, and chat with owner Kelly English. I really love how this interview goes beyond the menu and finds the heart of what inspires Chef Kelly and his team.

It’s got the buzz. It’s got the style. And, it’s been a hit in the local foodie scene since it opened in October 2021. I recently stopped by the Overton Square restaurant Pantá.
