Nearly one million blooms are about to pop across Memphis and you’re going to want to make a day (or three) of it.

Spring in Memphis just hits different. And this year, Memphis Botanic Garden is going all out with BLOOM: A Million Shades of Spring, a season-long celebration running March through May 2026.

It’s never too early to start visiting colleges with your kids. Just ask my toddler, whose favorite place to explore in the city is the University of Memphis campus. From a pint-size perspective, it’s a wonderland of wide walking paths where you’re sure to encounter squirrels and tigers (the safe, sculpture kind!). Even if you’re not quite ready for the coursework, there’s also plenty to learn along the way.

Strawberry season is on at Jones Orchard, but don’t wait — the fields are only open for picking through the end of May!

Located a short drive north of Memphis in Millington, Jones Orchard has three acres of strawberry fields. The pick-your-own field and roadside market is located at 7170 Hwy 51.

When you arrive, head to the register to pick your own strawberries. You'll decide the size of bucket you want before heading over to the field to fill as you desire.
