Get Trolled (in a Good Way) at Memphis Botanic Garden’s New Exhibit
Giant sized trolls are taking over the Memphis Botanic Garden in a new outdoor art exhibition that’s big, bold, and full of heart.
Giant sized trolls are taking over the Memphis Botanic Garden in a new outdoor art exhibition that’s big, bold, and full of heart.
Starting February 1, 2025, Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans is bringing six larger-than-life trolls to the garden, and they’ve got a mission: to help us humans reconnect with nature and rethink how we use (and reuse) our resources.

Thomas Dambo, the Danish artist behind these whimsical wood giants, is known for transforming trash into treasure. His trolls are crafted entirely from reclaimed wood and other recycled materials, giving them a unique personality and a strong environmental message.
These playful sculptures have been popping up around the world, from Denmark to South Korea, and now it’s Memphis’ turn.
Each troll tells its own story. You’ll meet characters like Ronja Redeye, the wise leader whose voice sounds like the wind rustling through leaves, and Rosa Sunfinger, who’s turning an old car into a blooming garden.
Beyond their charm, these trolls are here to teach us something: that trash can become art, and we can all do a little more to protect the planet. It’s sustainability meets storytime.
Grab your walking shoes, and get ready to explore the garden like never before or Memphis Botanic Garden will offer Troll Tram Tours on Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tram tours are free with garden admission and will leave every 20 minutes. No reservation is necessary. Tram rides will not be offered in the event of rain.
