On the first day of summer, we explored one of Memphis’s most diverse food corridors that is Summer Ave. to find a few new gems.

Summer Ave. is one of the most diverse making it a treasure trove of restaurants and hidden gems. Most Memphians should know the key hitters; Bryant’s, RYU, Nagaosiki Inn, Chinese Sub Shop, La Michocana, La Guadalupna, Lotus Vietnamese Restaurant and more.

 

Go Tigers Go to The Blue Room Restaurant

While the University of Memphis is stamped on the restaurant, they have so much more to offer.

The Blue Room Restaurant is a blend between fine dining and a good ole’ fashioned bar. They’ve managed to curate an enriched experience with their twist on some of our favorite Southern dishes.  

Chicken and waffles? They’ve got it. Bayou shrimp and grits? Um, yes please. And their menu is filled with options for meat-lovers and beloved vegans. 

Front Street Deli Reopens After Three Years

The famed delicatessen is back with a new look, menu, and owners.

Wednesday was the first time dishing out subs for one of the oldest delis in Memphis–Front Street Deli. Currently, Front Street Deli is open for lunch as they navigate a soft open approach. The plan is to introduce breakfast at a later time.

The new Front Street Deli is owned by Tony and Stephanie Westmoreland of Tandem Restaurant Partners.

Gus’s World Famous Hot and Spicy Fried Chicken finally added a Fried Chicken Sandwich to their menu but only at select locations--for now! And after trying it– I dream about the juicy deliciousness often.
