For over 60 years, Gus’s has been serving up a family recipe that captivated chicken lover’s hearts. They’ve stuck with the traditional hot fried chicken plate with feel-good Southern sides and a cold beverage. But finally, 2023 is the year of the chicken sandwich! Let me tell you about it.

I can’t lie, I stared at the plate for a long minute– to admire the beauty and to figure out which part of the sandwich I wanted to bite into first (ugh such a hard decision.) 

How could I not be in awe? The plate looked heaven sent! Here’s what I ordered:

• Fried Chicken Sandwich (comes with two sides but I added an extra one)
• Collard Greens
• Mac & Cheese
• Fried Okra
• And a Coca-Cola if you care

This Sandwich Will Make You Do The Happy Dance

The chicken sandwich comes with a thick, juicy boneless thigh fried to perfection, creamy mayo, and crunchy pickles nestled between two golden buns. Of course, you get the classic hint of heat in each bite, and coming from an avid hater of any level of spicy food, I loved it! It was a subtle kick.

The mayo and bread definitely coated my taste buds before the spice could get to it, but it wasn’t overpowering. I can tell they took their time with this recipe. I even did a happy dance after each bite.

You Have To Try It For Yourself

Currently, the only way you can enjoy this delectable meal is heading to the Germantown location. As of now, only 5 cities are lucky enough to serve the chicken sandwich but Germantown is the only Tennessee location. Reading from afar? You'll be able to find it at all Detroit locations and in Lexington, Chicago, and Kansas City.

Soon, the chicken sandwich will be added to Gus’s menu nationwide. Be one of the first to try it at the Germantown location.
