1. South Main Trolley Night, Friday, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., free to attend, all ages/kid-friendly
Shops and galleries host open houses along the street—head down and try a new bar or restaurant and see what’s happening downtown.
Boo Mitchell and Hi Rhythm take you on a musically guided journey of the more than 60 year history of Willie Mitchell and his iconic Royal Studios. Musical performances by Hi Rhythm, Marcus Scott, and more guest artists, plus recordings of classic hits (Willie Mitchell, Al Green, Ann Peebles, Otis Clay, OV Wright) and current hits like “Uptown Funk”.
3. Wiseacre 9 Times, Wiseacre OG and HQ, Friday - Sunday, free to attend
Wiseacre is going all out for their ninth birthday at both locations! There’s a full lineup of karaoke, music, and DJs and food trucks at the Broad Ave. location (Gourmade, Just Wraps, and Yippie Trippier) and a jazz brunch with Lucky 7 Brass Band. See the details.
Grind City Fest is a new, two-day music festival celebrating Blues, Brews, and Bluegrass. The event will be held on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at Grind City Brewing Company. The venue features a backdrop of unique views of Memphis and sits on 1.75 acres of green space located just five minutes north of downtown.
5. Forrest Spence 5K, Shelby Farms, Saturday, 8 a.m., $15-$30, all ages/kid-friendly
This is a really special Memphis race for an amazing cause—the Forrest Spence Fund supports the non-medical needs of critically ill children and their families, and has assisted more than 87,000 families since their founding in 2007. This Saturday, they’ll host a 100 yard dash for kids 9 and under, a fun run for kids 12 and under, 5K for the grownups (sign up here) and more family fun, games, bounce houses, and food.
6. 409 S. Main Retail Pop-Up / Resale Market, 490 S. Main, Saturday / Sunday, free to attend
On Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.: 409 S Main Retail Pop Up will feature Jewel Spa & Boutique, Vice by Kathleen, In House Coffee Roasters and more.
On Sunday, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.: ReSale Market with clothes, jewelry, furniture, and more.
MoSH will host a special NASA-endorsed event featuring the first images from the Webb Space Telescope. View the images in the planetarium, use telescopes outside, meet the Memphis Astronomical Society, and enjoy games and space swag.
8. Binghampton Brewhaha, Hampline Brewing, Sunday, 1 p.m. - 10 p.m., free to enter
Head to the taproom and enjoy Hampline specials, free food courtesy of The Memphis Latin Porkers BBQ Team, and live music (Jeremy Stanfill, Graber Gryass, Cassette Set). It's all in support of a great cause, LifeDoc Health.
