The Memphis Zoo is one of the top zoos in the country and their biggest fundraiser each year is Zoo Rendezvous! It's June 4 at 7 p.m. and features dozens of local restaurants, free-for-all drinks, and lots of live music and entertainment.

Memphis Zoo Rendezvous Dates and Ticket Information
Memphis Zoo Rendezvous is Saturday, June 4 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and tickets are $250 per person. At the event, you'll be able to roam select parts of the Zoo and enjoy a smorgasbord of food from local restaurants (partial list here) and drinks from several bars, plus live music on several stages.
This year it's 80s themed!
Zoo Rendezvous Tips
Like everything, this event will likely be and feel different in a post-pandemic world. I'm going to share some tips for making the most of this event based on previous years. Just keep in mind things might be different for 2022, but it's still sure to be a super fun time!
- Bring cash to tip bartenders like you would at any event.
- The food lines at the front of the Zoo will be longer because people walk in and go to the first thing they see. Be more strategic than this—walk further in where it's less crowded or determine your path by how much you want to eat there.
- This year's theme is "Eighties" so I expect to see some leg warmers, big hair, and Top Gun sunglasses. Even if you don't dress up on theme, it's a "festive and fun" cocktail attire, or at least cocktail casual.
- It's going to be HOT, though, so keep that in mind.
- You'll also be walking around. There is not a lot of sitting, if any. So keep that in mind when choosing footwear.
- Restaurants will run out of food as the night goes on. Get your money's worth by getting to the event early. Expect folks to start lining up a half hour before doors open.
- Speaking of that, take a look at the restaurant list and map and go to your priorities first. Don't wait until the end to realize that Folk's Folly has already run out of whatever they're serving.
- The animals are asleep. Don't expect to see any. And don't "be the drunken buffoon trying to wake up the flamingoes".

My favorite thing about the Memphis Zoo has always been the giant animal statues at the front of the entrance. Even though there are clearly signs that say "Please Don't Climb," you will always see kids (sometimes grown adults, cough cough *myself*) jumping on the alligator or the lion for a picture. It's just too good of a photo opp to pass up.
I mean, come on. Who hasn't done this before?

My favorite thing about the Memphis Zoo is how wonderful all of the exhibits are. The zoo is definitely one of the best zoos, if not THE best zoo, in the country. If I had to pick one animal in the zoo that is my favorite, it is the otter gang. They are so cute when they chase butterflies.

My favorite thing about the Memphis Zoo is that its authentic and a good representation of Memphis it self. In its own weird way, it represents Memphis by the different species it has there and the variety of things to do. It is like a small, animal kingdom version of Memphis itself. Memphis is a place for authenticity and a cross grounds for some many different people and cultures. I think its the best place to take your family and or just spend the day.
I also love feeding the giraffes.

The Nocturnal Exhibit! It is so cool, though a little smelly, with the bats and other creatures like the scorpions with their ultraviolet-reactive exoskeleton. I just love being able to see wildlife that is normally obscured from our normal view whether by being underground or simply nocturnal and reclusive. Plus, bats are so cute and misunderstood.

It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about the Memphis Zoo. Now that I have kids I think I’m most thankful for their water play options — the Nile river up front & the splash pad in teton Trek!
Generally though, I adore the beautiful outdoor space the zoo offers. And I really love the Herpaterium!!!

My favorite thing about the zoo is all the events they do there, such as Zoo Rendevous, Zoo Brew, Zoo Boo and Zoo Lights. Also, the animals are cool too... the pandas are the dopest!

I always go see the Bonobos because I adore how the guy apes go up to the gals and put their arms around the ladies as if to say, "Hey Baby. Want to give it a go?" It's like watching soft porn that's acceptable to view. The bonobos enjoy themselves, no concern with people gawking and/or tittering at them. Besides that, the females are the head of household in bonobo world--the girls are in power and they remain close to their sons even into adulthood. How cool is that? After moseying through the ape area, I always go watch the wolves. They prowl, sleep, eat pretty much like my pet dog, but their eyes reveal such calculations going on in their brains. They are true predators pacing around their enclosure when it's mealtime like they would happily eat a person if he or she happened to fall onto their turf. Nature at it's purest.

I love the nocturnal exhibit! It's so cool, though a little smelly, to see creatures like the bats and the ultraviolet-reactive exoskeletons of the scorpions. Bats are adorable and so misunderstood. I love watching them fly and their cute faces. I think it's really great to be able to see wildlife that is rarely observable due to their night habits or because they live below ground.

I’ve been going to the Zoo my entire life and I have to say that my favorite part of the zoo is how far it has come in the past 30 years! I can remember when it was easy to see/do everything the zoo had to offer in one day. Now, it takes days to see everything!

My favorite part of the Memphis Zoo are all the scattered relics from bygone days. There are structures still there that I remember from growing up in the 80's, and there are even bits and pieces that my mother and even my grandmother can remember as children.

We love the Memphis Zoo! It is such a great place to spend time with family, especially when you have little kids. We love the giraffes! I also love to take my time walking with my kids the wolf lodge area and then as they play in the sprinkler and run around I can take a minute to relax in one of the rocking chairs.

How easy it is to get to and how accessible it is as a venue in a city. I lived in NY for a long time and to get to the Bronx Zoo was a slog. I have visited zoos in other major cities and it was never easy there either as a tourist. Here in Memphis, the zoo is close by from any neighborhood and I can go with very little trouble. Of course I like the variety of animals that it has and how well kept they are!

My favorite thing is the gift shop. When my son was young we would always go to the zoo. I told him that he could pick one animal figurine from the gift shop every time we went. We have hundreds of different animals and figurines from that gift shop

My favorite thing about the zoo is how much they post about new babies! From Winnie to the newest little giraffe. They care a lot about the future and well being for these creatures!

We ❤️ the Memphis Zoo! My favorite thing about the zoo is that it serves as one big playground for my 3.5 year old. There are endless opportunities to learn about wildlife & different cultures, to experience nature, to run & play & be silly. We interact with people from all backgrounds when we go to the zoo, and that’s part of what makes it a special place. It’s also a great feeling to support a very special Memphis institution. We are now, and plan to be members of the zoo for life!

My favorite thing about the Memphis Zoo is Free Tuesdays! It allows a fun family experience for those who may not be fortunate enough to afford general admission otherwise. I also like that the Memphis Zoo provides numerous volunteer opportunities for minors needing credits for school, internships, community service hours, etc. My son was able to complete the community service hours he needed for school course and had a great time doing it!
