Eat This: Ethiopian Restaurant Lunch Buffet (Closed)

Ethiopian Restaurant is a straightforward kind of place, so much so that It's name is, as far as I can tell, just Ethiopian Restaurant. It's like they took all of the effort they could have put into branding and decorating and naming the restaurant something catchy into and put it into the food instead. Which, when you think about it, is probably how it should be. I stopped by for lunch today, which meant that I got to try the $9 all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.

Sample the Food (and Ice Cream) of the Philippines at VGM Market and Deli

I've been writing about food long enough to know that what I'm about to do isn't the best way to start a restaurant review, but in this case, it's the most honest way: I (mostly) have no idea what I ate at the VGM Market this afternoon, but I loved every single bit of it.

The VGM Market is a small Filipino grocery store with a restaurant and ice cream shop inside. As far as I can tell, it's Memphis' only Filipino food outlet.

Meals on Wheels: Taqueria el Porvenir

Yesterday afternoon, I got a text from my friend John letting me know that there were a ton of taco trucks parked along Summer Ave. Never one to resist the siren call of a taco wagon, I got in my car and started driving east, determined to stop at the first truck I saw.

It took a while before I found one, but there, parked just a little bit east of Waring, was Taqueria el Porvenir.
