Zam Zamz Mediterranean Grill is Kind of a Miracle

If you didn't know to look for Zam Zamz Mediterranean Grill, you might not find it. The restaurant, with its unassuming facade, is in a shopping center in front of a shopping center across from a shopping center near Winchester and Bill Morris Parkway. Why is it a miracle? First, it's unusual that a family-owned restaurant would be hidden amongst a Wingstop, Genghis Grill, Cheddar's, and an Olive Garden (the TGIFridays and Logan's Roadhouse are across the street).

Skewer Japanese Restaurant is Open Today

A friend and I attended a preview dinner earlier this week at East Memphis' new Japanese restaurant, Skewer. They officiallly opened today.

Skewer is in the Sanderlin Shopping Center in East Memphis (the one with Muddy's) next to Cosmic Coconut. It's a shotgun-style place with a row of tables along one side and more tables at the front. There's a glassed-in kitchen area where you can sit and watch the chefs at work, fish-bowl style.

Go East to Eat Southward

My situation at 8 p.m. last Saturday: in East Memphis, starving, in the mood to try something new.  I hadn't been to Southward Fare and Libations yet, so I called a friend and we went straight there.

Southward comes to East Memphis courtesy of Chef Ryan Trimm (Sweet Grass, Next Door) and opened last summer. It's tucked in the Regalia Shopping Center (behind Ruth's Chris) but it's easy to forget you're in a shopping center once you step inside.

Let Us Celebrate the Triumphant Return of the Grizzlies With A Feast

The Grizzlies return home tonight after a four game winning streak on the West Coast. If you're heading to FedExForum for the game, I suggest you celebrate with a feast. Here's a rundown of what's new at the Grindhouse, grub-wise. Just to be clear, if you see a sandwich/burger quarter in these photos, it's because these were taken at a tasting I attended a few weeks ago. You'll get a whole burger when you order at FedExForum.
