365 Things to Do in Memphis #260: Best Memphis Burger Fest
Memphis food is more than barbecue. If our local festival scene is a good barometer, we’re also really good at crawfish, hot wings, soup, breakfast, grilled cheese, and burgers. Assignment #260 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to check out Best Memphis Burger Fest this weekend.
Seth Agranov, author of the Best Memphis Burger blog, and his business partner Tim James are the festival’s founders, and they put it on with the help of a great team and local sponsors.
This year’s fest is on Sunday, August 28, and more than 35 teams will compete for burger glory (including some pretty sweet trophies). A team of judges will preside over Best Bloody Mary, Best Veggie Burger, Best Specialty Burger, and Best Memphis Burger competitions.
Claybrooks Farms and another anonymous local sponsor have donated meat and buns to the festival so that the teams can create extra samples for attendees to try – but definitely drop a few bucks in the teams’ donation jars if you can. The proceeds go towards Memphis Paws, which benefits animal rescue groups in the area.
Your $10 ticket includes parking, entry, live music, eating competitions, and access to local vendors. There’s also a Jack Pirtle’s Chicken Kidzone for an extra $5 (or $10 for all day access). Go ahead and buy your tickets online so you don’t have to wait in a long line when you get there on Sunday.
But can I eat the burgers? Claybrooks Farms and another anonymous local sponsor have donated meat and buns to the festival so that the teams can create extra samples for attendees to try – but definitely drop a few bucks in the teams’ donation jars if you can. The proceeds go towards Memphis Paws.
