365 Things to Do in Memphis #153: Take the Main Street Trolley

Trolley South Main

When it comes to downtown mass transit, Memphis goes old school with a light rail trolley system. Assignment #153 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis list is to slow your roll on the trolley's Main Street route.

The trolley's story is a bit of a saga. Back in 2014, they were shut down for safety and maintenance reasons. Risks of being authentically vintage, I suppose.

365 Things to Do in Memphis #142: Eat a Burger Fried in 100 Year Old Grease

Customer being served at Dyers Hamburgers on Beale Street

Updated May 2018 As Memphians, we take our fried food seriously. Few, though, take it more seriously than the crew at Dyer's. They're so committed that they fry each one of their burgers in grease that has been lovingly preserved and used for 100 years. Assignment #142 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to eat a Dyer's burger.  As far as I can tell, the legend of the 100 year old grease is true. When the diner moved to Beale Street, the sacred grease came, too.
