Eat This: Le Delights Banh Mi and Pho
Look who I found! Tuyen Le, the amazing woman who worked at Saigon Le in the Crosstown neighborhood, is now at Le Delights Banh Mi and Pho in Cordova.
In Memphis, it seems like many of our watering holes fall into one of three categories. First, we have the places that are primarily restaurants, but have popular bars in them, i.e., Bari, Local, Half Shell.
Then, there are the dive bars. These are self explanatory and for some reason they sound like they need a "the" in front, like the P&H, the Hi Tone, the Lamplighter. (Or am I the only one who does that?)
Loflin Yard is a casual spot with a cool atmosphere - most of it is literally a yard - that's open for dinner during the week. On weekends, it's open during the day and until late.
Loflin has a front bar room that's indoors and serves up craft cocktails and local beer, and you can order food. There's also a building, The Coach House , with another bar. In between, there's a big open lawn with chairs, fire pits, picnic tables, games, and more. Think rustic-but-fancy bbq joint. Tin roofs. Refurbished furniture.
For a long time, downtowners (and folks who work in the downtown core) have wanted a simple, affordable taco joint. I'm happy to say that we have a contender*: an easy, tasty Mexican place that is decidedly the opposite of the high-concept or small plates menus currently saturating the restaurant scene in Memphis.
