1. The Memphis Tigers men's basketball team and head coach Penny Hardaway have landed the #1 recruit in the nation. I had not seen Memphis sports Twitter that excited since the Grizzlies' playoff run in 2013. Welcome to the Tigers family, Mr. Wiseman.

2.  Trip Advisor says that Backbeat Tours' Memphis Mojo Tour is one of the top 5 live music experiences in America.

3. The Washington Times covered the opening of the new skatepark/coffee shop now open on Broad Avenue, called Society Memphis.

4. Thrillist mentioned AutoZone Park, the Redbirds, the Rendezvous, and Central BBQ in its Memphis entry for the 21 Best Nachos In America. I Love Memphis has a few more suggestions for them to try out here.

5. Sun Studio was featured on CSPAN! Shout-out to one of the most historic sites in town.

6. I have no idea what this magazine article says because it's in French, but it seems pretty positive!

7. Elvis Presley was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

8. The Hallmark holiday movie, Christmas at Graceland, was the most watched Hallmark movie of 2018 and the 4th most watched holiday movie in network history. I think Memphis should get most of the credit for this success, but I'm a little biased.

9. Two Upright Tray Tables blog had some lovely things to say about Memphis after their visit here. Beyond the expected mentions of the Peabody Hotel, barbecue, and Sun Studio, Kenan and Charise also checked out the National Civil Rights Museum, Crosstown Concourse, and the Shelby Forest General Store.

10. Only In Your State includes The Pie Folks in Cordova and Muddy's in Memphis on their list of the best places to get pie in Tennessee. More Mid-South pies here.

11. Here's a cool look from VOA News about the FedEx hub in Memphis.

12. We already knew JT was coming to Memphis in January. But ICYMI: The Backstreet Boys are coming to Memphis. So is Rick Springfield. And Elton John. And KISS. And Weezer with The Pixies. Check out more live music on the monthly I Love Memphis "Listen Up!" guides.

13. Developers are planning an almost-billion-dollar development for Union Avenue in downtown Memphis, called Union Row. Now idea how/when that will shake out, but people are excited.

14. The MBJ reports that there are "serious offers" coming in to redevelop the gorgeous, unique Sterick skyscraper downtown. That would be rad; we've been talking about that building for a long time.

15. ICYMI, the riverfront parks are being redone. The River Garden is awesome, if you haven't been by yet. (see image at the top of the post)

16. The Memphis Music Hall of Fame recently inducted their next class, which included Aretha Franklin, Eddie Floyd, and 8Ball and MJG.

17. UDiscover Music wrote an article about how music changed society. Of course, they included Stax Records, Booker T. and the MGs, and others. If you want to learn more, check out the "Give A Damn!" exhibit at Crosstown Arts. I've perused it a few times and 10/10, recommend.

18. NOMADNESS, a travel community, will host their AUDACITY travel festival in Memphis on September 28 and 29, 2019. This is so incredibly awesome, since AUDACITY is the first festival that aims to unite travelers of color (the inuagural event was held in 2018 in Oakland, Calif.). According to Travel + Leisure, Memphis was chosen because of our commitment to African American history and by a vote of the members of the NOMADNESS community.

19. Some awesome Memphians decided to give back in a simple way - buying Mickie D's biscuits and juice for hungry fellow Memphians. A quote from the story on the Western Journal: “I was blown away by such acts of kindness. They are from Orange Mound and They said they do this at a different McDonald’s every Sunday morning.”

20. The University of Memphis women's soccer team won the American Athletic Conference title this season. Go Tigers Go!
