One of the earliest posts on this blog (way back in 2010) was about The Chinese Sub Shop (alternately known as the Sub Wash Pub or Super Submarine Sandwich Shop). At the time, it was located in a dimly lit spot on Highland. In late 2013, the Chinese Sub Shop found a new home in the former Captain D's on Summer Avenue.
How would you like to be locked in an unfamiliar room with only an hour to figure out how to escape? Sounds like a crazy thing to do for fun, but "escape rooms" have been popping up all over the country as a way for groups of friends (and strangers) to challenge themselves with puzzles, clues, and codes.
On July 20, Memphis will get its own version. I tracked down one of the owners, Mallory Lynch, to tell me more about the upcoming opening of Memphis Escape Rooms.

The long-awaited new location for Restaurant Iris is ready for its close up—today!
Restaurant Iris's team is finally ready to welcome guests to the new location in Laurelwood Shopping Center in East Memphis.
Iris is now open for lunch/brunch every day from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and for dinner on select weekend days including Friday and Saturday October 7 and 8. On Saturdays and Sundays, the brunch menu will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Starting October 10, the bar and bar menu will be available all day.
