Aldo's Pizza Pies has served downtown Memphis since the summer of 2012. Now, Aldo's on Main Street and their Cooper Young locations are Memphis staples for great pizza, sandwiches, and local beer.

Comeback Coffee is at 358 North Main in downtown Memphis, next to the former TJ Mulligan's spot. Owners Hayes and Amy McPherson opened the spot in March 2019, and it's a beaut.

There is no better combination of flavors than when salty things and chocolate things are allowed to mingle.

When you eat at Dyer's, you're eating history. The grease at Dyer's is more than a century old. Legend says that the burgers have been deep fried in the same grease since day one, and when the Memphis burger joint changed locations, that grease was transported by armored car. From what I can tell, it's true.

Every time a new batch of grease is needed, some of the old grease is mixed in with it. Every night at closing time, the grease in the pan is covered with a lid. Every morning, the grease is strained and seasoned. Dyer's is serious about the "Vitamin G".

Fourth of July falls on a Friday (woohoo!) this year so expect a full week of fun and fireworks leading up to Independence Day.

If you ask people for the best donuts in Memphis, there are always few places mentioned. But Gibson's Donuts in East Memphis is always the clear winner. There were a ton of options - cinnamon rolls, donut holes, cake donuts, yeast donuts, donuts with all kinds of toppings. Gibson's clearly loves the University of Memphis. One time I stopped by and there were at least four varieties of blue and white donuts in the bakery case.
