If you ask people for the best donuts in Memphis, there are always few places mentioned. But Gibson's Donuts in East Memphis is always the clear winner. There were a ton of options - cinnamon rolls, donut holes, cake donuts, yeast donuts, donuts with all kinds of toppings. Gibson's clearly loves the University of Memphis. One time I stopped by and there were at least four varieties of blue and white donuts in the bakery case. I went with a classic - blue icing with sprinkles. During breakfast hours (I was there between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.), the shop was busy, but not overly crowded. There were a lot of families and older people having breakfast in the shop and a lot of business people picking up boxes of donuts to go.
