What's Better Than a Free Outdoor Concert? A Free Outdoor Concert in Your Yard.

Memphis has plenty of free, outdoor music options - the Levitt Shell, Shelby Farms, Court Square, the Cooper-Young Gazeebo.

Thanks to a new-ish local concert series, we can add a growing list of Memphis backyards to the list. Now in its second season, 3artists1yard is bringing live acoustic shows directly to Memphians' homes. It doesn't get much more accessible than that.

1. Plant-based Food Festival, Overton Park, Friday - Sunday, $5 advance / $7 gate

If you've ever wanted to get into whole or plant-based foods, this weekend is the perfect time. The Natural House of Wellness is hosting the Plant-based Food Festival, which celebrates healthy living with three days of classes, speakers cooking demonstrations, a 5k, Zumba, yoga and other family friendly good times.

Celebrate Memphis Summers Past with an Adventure River T-Shirt

Remember Adventure River?

If you're a Memphian of a certain age, it's likely you spent many a summer day sitting on the fake beach or braving the Geronimo slide at the water park.

If you don't quite remember it, Adventure River was located off of I-40 near Whitten Road and opened every Memorial Day through Labor Day from 1985 until 1998. Memphians of all ages flocked to its had water slides, a lazy river and a (slightly terrifying) wave pool.

There's no reason to stop going to the Levitt Shell when their early summer live concert series ends on July 13th. The Shell is hosting a different kind of live music from July 18th though August 24th - they're hosting Indie Memphis' third annual summer concert film series.
