MORE FATHER’S DAY IDEAS:

Dads love golf

Hit a round at one of Memphis’ golf courses or visit a golf-themed bar in South Main at Birdies Golf Bar where golf is on the TVs to watch or you can play on one of their several simulators. In East Memphis, make reservations (needed!) at Topgolf Swing Suites at Erling Jensen Small Bites which has two Top Golf simulators.

Do a Brewery Tour

For the craft-beer loving dads, cool off with a beer or two at one of Memphis’ many taprooms. Cooper House Project in Cooper-Young is one of the newest taprooms to open. Click here for a list of all the local breweries.

We love a cool bar

For the cool dads, hit one of Memphis’ bars like Inkwell, Cameo, Cove, Memphis Whistle, Hernando’s Hideaway, Alex’s Tavern, Bar DKDC, Bog & Barley, and more.

Explore Bass Pro Shops at Pyramid

Nothing says dad more than the Bass Pro Shop. Let dad pick out a gift, grab a bite, watch some fish. Sounds like a good dad’s day.

Axe Throwing

There are several spots in Memphis where dad can swing an axe in the name of entertainment. Axe Throwing places include Civil Axe, Craft Axe, and Autobahn Indoor Speedway. Autobahn's Formula 1-inspired pro karts also that can reach speeds up to 50 mph.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
