Hop Around Downtown: Memphis' First Brew Hop Week Is Here

Beer lovers, this one’s for you. Downtown Memphis is officially hopping with the first-ever Downtown Brew Hop Week.

From June 9–15, Downtown Brew Hop features nine local taprooms and breweries are joining forces for a week packed with limited-edition beer releases, food pairings, live music, free Brew Bus transportation, workout classes, karaoke nights, and more.

In recent years, downtown has welcomed a wave of new breweries and taprooms—and now they’re all coming together for this inaugural celebration, led by the Downtown Memphis Commission.

Feeling lucky? You could win a downtown staycation just for showing up and sipping local. Grab a Brew Hop entry form at any participating location, order a drink, and get it punched by the bartender. Visit at least five spots, and you’ll be entered to win prizes like hotel stays, attraction passes, and delicious meals. More details here. Cheers to that!

Here is what’s on tap for the inaugural Brew Hop Week:

ALL WEEK

  • Explore Bike Share will have a free 3-day pass that normally costs $35. Promo code BREW25 lets you enjoy 60-minute rides for three consecutive days at all 36 locations. Keep an eye out for free bike passes hidden at three participating breweries!
  • Old Dominick will serve $9 regular Old Fashioneds at the bar plus $5 off tours with promo code beerstill.
  • Soul & Spirits will have a new Sauce Fruited Sour variant, Groove Cocktail-Inspired Hard Seltzer, and a special Mocktail available all week
  • Wiseacre HQ will have $5 pints of their award-winning favorites: Tiny Bomb, Sky Dog, and Oktoberfest plus nightly raffles with merch giveaways
  • Flyway Brewing shared their food specials this week which includes a cheese skirt pretzel, angry mallard wrap, and chaddowhands burger plus a new beer on tap.
  • Saturday and Sunday, Memphis Brew Bus will have a free hop shuttle. Here is the stops schedule.

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
