5 Days of Live Music For 901 Fest
5 Days of Music For 901 Fest at Railgarten
Railgarten and Old Dominick Distillery are teaming up to go all out for 901 Day this year. Introducing....901 Fest! Five days of live music, drinks, and local art at the sprawling outdoor venue.
901 Day and 901 Fest
901 Day is a day to celebrate and honor all things Memphis. The "901" comes from our area code and the official day of observation is 9-01 aka September 1. (We'll have more ideas and ways to throw down for 901 Day published on I Love Memphis soon!)
901 Fest 2021 is about the music, the drinks, and local artists. Old Dominick will have specialty drinks and tastings available through the weekend and local artists from Arrow Creative will have a market set up on Saturday and Sunday.
Here’s the headliner scheduler and ticket prices which vary per day:

Railgarten’s event is not to be confused with the former Memphis in May event 901Fest (which was already confusing because it was in May and not September)
Since 2017 Railgarten has been the midtown hangout hotspot. There’s plenty of outdoor space with a stage, a playground for kids, a sand volleyball court, an indoor bar, and a diner. Multiple spaces, stages, and kid-friendliness means it’s popular for groups and you can rent out spaces. We had our awesome I Love Memphis 10th birthday party there!
Railgarten is casual. Think picnic tables and folding chairs, cold drinks, ice cream, burgers, tacos. They have plenty of cocktails, “get tanked” fishbowl-style drinks, all manner of local and domestic brews and non-alcoholic sodas and lemonades. During the day, Railgarten has a more family picnic, chill hang vibe. In the evenings with live music, it becomes a bit more adult with drinking and dancing.
They do have onsite parking and have a map on their website but unless you’re getting there early it’s kind of a good luck situation. I’d recommend a ride share if you can.
If you’re wondering exactly where Railgarten is, just look for the groups of 20-somethings ignoring the crosswalk and running across the middle of Central Avenue to party in the evenings. (I really wish we could remember the crosswalk, for safety!)
It’s kid-friendly and all ages until 8 p.m. There is a small kids’ menu. At 8 p.m., the Yard area is 21 and up only. Leashed dogs are welcome outside. Railgarten hours on their website. Sometimes it’s free to get in, sometimes there’s a cover charge—check Railgarten Facebook for more info.
