A Z-Bo Tee, Two Restaurant Closings and a Some Color for Broad Ave.

365 Memphians - Michael Cardwell
This is Michael Cardwell (aka @Stuicide), in his makeshift photo studio at Emerge Memphis. He's in the process of taking a bunch of black and white photos of notable Memphians for a website he's working on. (And I'm proud to be one of them.) In other news: - From the guy that brought you the Tony Allen "All Heart, Grit Grind" t-shirt comes a brand new, full color Zach Randolph tee. It's got a picture of Z-Bo's head with the words "Just a blue collar player in a blue collar town". You can get them outside of the FedExForum before home games. - If you've tried to eat at Au Fond or El Diablo in Cooper-Young lately, there's a good reason for the locked doors. Chef Ben Vaughn decided to close both restaurants for good. Au Fond, which served breakfast and lunch, had been open about 18 months, and El Diablo had been open roughly three weeks. - Broad Ave.'s gigantic new mural is almost done. The huge, colorful piece across the street from the Cove is being painted by French artist Guillaume Alby and is expected to be finished tomorrow.

I'm sad to hear about the closing of Au Fond. We need a tapas restaurant or a good wine bar in that space, both of which are sadly missing from the Memphis scene. Here are some great concepts that are thriving in nearby St. Louis: http://www.barcelonatapas.com/ http://www.modestotapas.com/ http://www.sashaswinebar.com/ http://33wine.com/
