5 Things to do in Memphis This Weekend: 3/25 - 3/27
Happy Friday, Memphis! If you're looking for something to do this weekend, you can't go wrong with these five Memphis events:
1. Fareveller Festival, Hi-Tone Cafe / Young Ave. Deli / P&H Cafe, Friday - Saturday, 7 p.m. - 12 a.m., $10 - $25
Memphis' newest music festival is invading Midtown this weekend. There's a series of shows tonight and Saturday night at the Young Ave. Deli, the Hi-Tone and the P&H showcasing the best of local music as well as some nationally touring acts. Wristbands for the weekend are $25, and individual show tickets are $10 - $15 at the door.
2. Artini, Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Friday, 6 p.m., $30
The Dixon is having their annual Young at Art cocktail party this weekend. The roaring '20's themed event will feature food, cocktails and plenty of time to check out the galleries and meet the other Young at Art Members. Period dressing is encouraged, so feel free to break out your fedora.
3. River City Brewer's Festival, Handy Park, Saturday, 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., $40
The River City Brewer's festival returns to Beale Street this weekend for a second year of beer sampling. With your $40 ticket, you can sample more than 75 craft beers from local and national breweries. There are two tastings, one from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. and one from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Proceeds from the festival benefit the The Autism Society of the Mid-South.
4. Little Helpers March Project, Vance and Danny Thomas, Saturday, 2 p.m., free
Clean Memphis is partnering with Little Helpers to tidy up the area around Vance and Danny Thomas on Saturday afternoon. Little Helpers is a volunteer organization for kids 12 years old and younger. Clean Memphis will provide all of the supplies, and prizes will be given for the little helpers who bag the most trash.
5. Sultana with Fille Catatonique and the Bluff City Backsliders, The Cove, Saturday, 10 p.m., $5
In addition to Fareveller fest, there's a huge show at the Cove this Saturday night. Three local bands are teaming up for a night of rock'n'roll. The Sultana is a haunting three-piece named after a maritime disaster. The Bluff City Backsliders are a sort of punk rock jug band, and Fille Catatonique is an entrancing Creole girl with an accordion and a massive voice.
If none of these events are your thing, check the calendar for more options. As always, no matter what you do this weekend, have a wonderful time.
