Memphis Project 365: Day 113 (Happy Birthday Edition)
Happy 117th birthday to the Cossitt Library!
The Cossitt Library was built downtown at the corner of Front and Monroe in 1893. The original red sandstone building is still partially in use, though the front of the building (and the turrets) were torn down in the 1950s. Memphis Memories has some great pictures of the library over the years.

Not my neighborhood library growing up (that would be Highland), but it was at Cossitt that I first experienced a number of classic movies as a young adult.
I never liked the 1959 re-do (Civic Modern not my thing), and it was only as an adult that I discovered what it originally looked like. Only recently did I learn that the back of the building is still original. That wacky disjunct between front and back is just so--Memphis. :-)
