August is the I Love Memphis Birthday Month! To celebrate, next Thursdays' Peabody Rooftop Party is a special I Love Memphis night - and you're invited.

Help me celebrate seven (!!) years of loving Memphis at the party, which is the second-to-last party this season, on Thursday, August 11 and features musical guest Hillybilly Casino, plus DJ Mark Anderson spinning some Memphis-centric tunes.

Did you know Memphis has a busy, growing, kick-ass comedy scene? Well, it does. And the biggest event is Memphis Comedy Fest. It's coming up this week. Here are eight things you need to know.

1. MCF is four days long, March 31 - April 3, 2016. You can see the whole schedule here.

Did you ever go to Newby's? I did. In college mostly, and mostly for live music. It wasn't my regular spot, but I know it was for many people. By all accounts the bar, restaurant, and venue is a Memphis institution. It is, after all, the self-described "college bar you never graduate from".

More than a year after its closing, Newby's in Memphis will reopen next Tuesday, January 26. I stopped by last week to take a peek and talk with co-owner Larry Thompson.

Remember this spring's popular hang out spot at the old Tennessee Brewery, Brewery Revival? The same folks behind that event plan to create another pop-up beer garden, food truck station, and entertainment venue, and they're called it Station 3: The Memphis Firehaus.

This weekend the Edge District is turning into a rockabilly wonderland for the inaugural Memphis International Rockabilly Festival.
