Swanky’s Taco Shop isn’t anything like Tacos Borolas or Fuego Maya. It’s, well, swankier. Much swankier. The dark red, brown and chrome interior makes the restaurant feel more like an upscale tapas bar than a family taco joint.

The name isn't hyperbole. Incredible Pizza, is, in word, incredible. It's more than a pizza buffet, more than an arcade, and more than a playground. What it is is completely intense. Start with the buffet. It's a huge counter of  all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, salad, baked potatoes, tacos and desserts that winds its way through the lobby. (Fun fact - every day, Incredible Pizza makes between 1000 and 1600 pizzas.) Surprisingly, the food is pretty tasty. All of it is made fresh, from scratch every day.

It's a general Memphis rule that some of the best food in town is found in the most unlikely places. We like our tacos from shopping centers, our burgers from dive bars and our sushi from gas stations. Abyssinia is no exception.

A big, steaming bowl of vegetarian noodle soup from Do in Cooper Young. It might not have been the best solution for my sore throat, but it definitely wasn't a bad one.

Last night, in an effort to forget about an epic craving for a pizza that I couldn't have, I went to Cafe 1912. I figured if anything could distract me, it would be food of a totally different genre. It totally worked.

Last week, I mentioned that one of the reasons I love living in Memphis is that we have to work to find cool places and things. I think I also said something about how putting forth an effort makes said cool things so much more worth it. I was totally thinking about that while I was repeatedly cruising the Ridgeway loop, looking for Lisa's Lunchbox.

While I was at South By Southwest in March, I fell hard for Casa del Fuego, a late-night taco truck parked in downtown Austin. The soft tacos were simple - just chicken, cheese, cilantro and onions in a corn tortilla.
