Take Yourself And Your Ladies To Lunch at the Woman's Exchange

The Woman's Exchange of Memphis is a cozy East Memphis tea room and retail shop, and a Memphis institution that's been serving "ladies who lunch" (and their friends) for decades.

The Woman's Exchange has been around since 1885, a charity "helping others help themselves" with the proceeds from their retail shop and lunch-only restaurant.

Get Full with Memphis' Most Eclectic Supper Club

By the time the server set the dish of portobello mushroom ravioli on the table at last night's Foodie Memphis gathering at Lavoro's Italian restaurant, I was starting to regret wearing pants with a belt. It's wasn't that the ravioli was too rich (it wasn't), it was that it was the eighth dish on a 10 dish tasting menu that also included eggplant parmesean, stuffed red peppers, fried zucchini, chicken marsala, spicy meatballs and white chocolate bread pudding.

Score Some Comfort Food at Broad Avenue's Three Angels Diner (closed)

After a months of anticipation (and a little permit drama), Three Angels Diner has opened in the Broad Ave. Arts District. The diner is the the latest restaurant by Jason and Rebecca Severs (who also own fancy Italian joint Bari). I've never eaten at Bari, but if it's as good as Three Angels, I'm totally interested. The food at Three Angels is decidedly low key. The menu's full of simple diner classics - fried chicken, meat and twos, adult grilled cheese, salads.

Get Schooled at Lunchbox Eats

The Homeroom Chicken and Grids from downtown restaurant Lunchbox Eats is what KFC's Double Down sandwich wishes it could be, but can't. It's a brilliant take on the classic Southern combination of chicken and waffles: battered fried chicken strips covered with cheese nestled between the two halves of a waffle.

Good Things Come in Threes at Flight

Sometimes, it’s tough to make a decision, especially at a restaurant where everything on the menu looks potentially amazing. Flight is perfect for the indecisive. The downtown restaurant is built around the premise that no one should have to choose just one entree. All of their entrees and appetizers come in “flights”, themed trios of three ounce portions. If you want more of something, there are entree-sized portions available.
