See The 2017 Solar Eclipse, Memphis-Style

On August 21, 2017, we'll be able to witness a rare solar eclipse in almost totality (Memphis will have a 93%-ish obstruction). Here's a list of viewing parties and other ways to observe this scientific phenomenon. To be safe, be sure you get some special eclipse viewing glasses! - Memphis Weather has a full guide to the eclipse, including safety and viewing info. Or you can read NASA's.

- The Pink Palace will host Solar Eclipse Day on the 21st from noon to 2 p.m.

There will be free movies in Court Square this summer in downtown Memphis on Thursdays through June 23rd. Seating opens at 7:30 p.m. and movies start at 8 p.m. There will be food trucks, or you can bring your own food, or grab something from restaurants and shops in Harbor Town.

Food trucks will be at the events but we also encourage you to stop by your local food favorites in Downtown to grab a bite before the movie or bring it down to-go.

Here is the lineup:

Explore Memphis With Freewheel's Spring Slow Rides

Want to explore Memphis by bike? Looking for a group to ride with, or a way to ease into street riding (since Memphis is getting more bike-friendly by the day)? You'll want to connect with Freewheel bike group for their Spring Slow Rides, which kicks off on April 19. The Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC) organizes these rides every Wednesday this spring.

Walk Across The Mississippi River On Big River Crossing

The Harahan Bridge's Big River Crossing opened on October 22, 2016. Millions of Memphians, West Memphians, and visitors have walked, run, and biked across in the years since. If you haven't done it yourself, I consider it a Memphis must-do.

It offers incomparable views of the River, city skyline, and the Bass Pro Pyramid. It connects to the Big River Trail system which includes popular biking trails across the levees in West Memphis.
