Happy Friday, and welcome to Memphis, marathoners! Here's this weekend's list of Memphis events that you won't want to miss:

1. The Nutcracker, Orpheum Theatre,  Friday - Sunday, 7:30 p.m. / 2 p.m., $10 and up

The first weekend in December means one thing in Memphis: it's marathon time. Assignment #279 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to run in (or cheer on those running in) the St. Jude Memphis Marathon and half marathon.

Good news, readers: Memphis has two more Little Free Libraries.

The birdhouse-sized libraries are completely community run - stop by and grab a book to read for free, or drop off books you've already read for someone else to enjoy.

There's this one on New York, just a little bit north of Young Ave. When I stopped by this afternoon, it was completely stuffed with books.

Get out your dancing shoes - tonight's plans involve celebrating the life and music of Memphis' most famous band director, Jimmie Lunceford.

During MemFix, food trucks and vendors filled the Sears parking lot, bands played on the building's loading dock, empty storefronts along Cleveland were filled with pop-up shops, art was sold out of vintage bread trucks and a puppet dispensed love advice from a cardboard booth.

Attention, kids (and adults who still want to play on the playground): South Main St. has a swing.

Politicians, criminals, musicians, millionaires, formerly enslaved people, yellow fever victims, madams, civil rights leaders, writers, and preachers all rest here.

Much like Memphis as whole, Elmwood Cemetery's population has a little bit of everybody.
