Ed. note: The nice thing about living in a music city is that we get a ton of great live shows every single month. The tough thing, however, is deciding which bands to see. With that in mind, here are 10 recommendations for shows you won't want to miss this month:

Get out your cowboy hat - assignment #214 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to see a rodeo or horse show at the Showplace Arena.
It doesn't seem grand enough to tell you to go see the Sputnik. The greatest neon sign in Memphis deserves more gravitas. One should behold it, or gaze upon it or consider it (especially because doing so means ticking off assignment #213 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis).
You probably shouldn't put yourself into a situation where you could get into a fight, but in the event that you do, the late, great Memphis punk rocker Jay Reatard has a three-point plan to get you out of it.

When I think about Southern films, there are the usual suspects - the iconic films that make us laugh at our Southern eccentricities or cringe at the violence of our past. I love the Southern story because characters are not destroyed by degradation; rather Southern characters are dynamic – embroiled from the inside. Here are my top five Southern films:
