15 Best New Memphis Restaurants in 2024

From sizzling African eats to mouthwatering Japanese bites—and everything tasty in between—Memphis dished out an epic lineup of new restaurants in 2024.

Last year, we put together our 15 Best New Restaurants in 2023 which was so popular we knew we had to do it again.

With so many beloved spots closing their doors this year, it’s more important than ever to celebrate and support Memphis’ newest local restaurants—bringing fresh flavors and creative concepts to our city in 2024.

This list accounts for 15 of our favorite new restaurants, in alphabetical order, to open in 2024. Let me tell you, this was a really hard one to narrow down. We had so many great new restaurants open.

While many restaurants expanded to more locations this year, we kept this list strictly to new concepts. We did include bakeries but left off places that are more a bar vs. restaurant (but hey, shout out to great new spots like The Juke Speakeasy and Mary’s B.O.T.E)!

DVOUR Desserts

Satisfy your sweet tooth at DVOUR Desserts, one of the latest additions to Memphis' bustling dessert scene. This chic shop specializes in cheesecake (think traditional slices, decadently decorated mini cheesecakes, and cheesecake stuffed cookies!) and brioche donuts. They do some true artistry when it comes to their bite-sized cheesecakes. We obsess over their ube and cookies & cream cheesecakes, carrot cake cookies, and everything bagel brioche donuts.

DVOUR DESSERTS: 523 S Main St.

Evergreen Grill

Nestled in the heart of Midtown, Evergreen Grill is all about southern comfort and neighborhood vibes. We’ve been longtime fans of owner David Tood, who prior to opening Evergreen Grill, was the executive chef at Longshot restaurant at Arrive Memphis hotel. He took many of those delicious staples over to Evergreen’s menu. Our go-to order is a mixture of the Evergreen fries, tuna nachos, KFC sandwich, honey gold chicken sandwich, and the crispy duck but the menu is so stacked–you can’t go wrong with anything.

EVERGREEN GRILL: 212 N Evergreen St.

Groovy Gratitude

Sip to the rhythm of wellness and gratitude at the Groovy Gratitude.  This wellness cafe in Uptown offers healthy options like smoothies, cold-pressed juices, bites & bowls. Highly recommend the Big Memphis Energy protein smoothie and Good Earth caprese panini. We're big fans of being able to eat something healthy without having to pay a high cost for it.

GROOVY GRATITUDE: 605 N. Second St

JEM Dining

This new Edge District restaurant aims to take elevated fine dining and make it approachable. We got a taste of this new spot and were so impressed, we wrote all about in a blog here. With seasonal ingredients, you can expect the menu to always be fresh and tasty. We loved the crab and gulf shrimp dip, homemade gnocchi, and kimchi arancini. They also make a mean chocolate cake.

JEM DINING: 644 Madison Ave.

Kellie’s Deli

Sometimes, you just need a good deli sandwich, and that’s exactly what Kellie’s Deli provides. This new downtown deli is at the former River Market at the New Memphis building. From bbq nachos to a dozen sandwich options–the menu is extensive AND doesn’t break the break. They also offer gyros, dessert, subs, and cheddar dogs, and more. Our go-to order is the cajun turkey sandwich which also happens to be their best seller!

KELLIE’S DELI: 516 Tennessee St. #127

Kinfolk Country Kitchen

From a popular pop-up to their own brick and mortar restaurant in Harbor Town, Kinfolk quickly rose to being one of the top breakfast and lunch restaurants in the city. Their biscuits are the real deal. We cannot get enough of their hot honey chicken sandwich, grits, breakfast burrito, breaky bowl, griddle cakes–scratch that… we love the entire menu!

KINFOLK COUNTRY KITCHEN: 111 Harbor Town Sq.

Kitchen Laurel

There’s nothing like feel-good breakfast and brunch food, and Kitchen Laurel embodies all of that. The spot is located in Cooper Young and operated by Chef Kevin Sullivan, formerly of Tsunami, and his wife. The menu features unique dishes such as a Cake Roll  (a breakfast sushi roll) and yummy classics like shrimp and grits. Be sure to check out their Grab & Go to Take & Bake menu- bringing the taste of Kitchen Laurel to your own kitchen!

KITCHEN LAUREL: 800 Cooper St.

La Roche

Described as “a taste of Lebanon in the heart of Memphis,” this new Lebanese restaurant can be found in Cooper-Young. Grab a table inside or on the patio to enjoy kabobs, hummus, baklava, and more. Some other great menu items include the Baba Ghanouj (roasted eggplant, tahini, garlic & lemon), Kibbeh, and ending with Baklava is a must!

LA ROCHE: 916 Cooper St.

Mande Dibi West African BBQ Grill

From the same owners as Bala's Bistro, Mande Dibi brings all the traditional flavors of West African cuisine to Memphis.  You can’t go wrong with their tender oxtail, beef patties, and jollof rice. They also offer a buffet for $9.50/pound plus a small market for authentic ingredients to take home.

MANDE DIBI: 6825 Winchester Rd Suite D

Memphis Toast

If you’re driving along Jackson Ave., it’ll be hard to miss the new Memphis Toast located across the street from Smoky City BBQ. The exterior redesign makes a statement as does the Memphis-themed interior. This new spot specializes in brunch and sandwich options. Brunch options include chicken & waffles, cajun shrimp & grits bowl, breakfast burritos, and more. Signature sandwiches include The Sticky Waffle and Smoked Bacon. Definitely try the red velvet waffles.

MEMPHIS TOAST: 954 Jackson Ave.

Nagoya House Hibachi & Ramen

Nagoya House offers a cozy atmosphere and a taste of Japan right in the heart of the city. Located in the former DWJ Korean BBQ space in Cooper-Young,  they specialize in hibachi and ramen (as the name indicates). Chef Kelly English said this one of the best bowls of ramen he's had in Memphis. The takoyaki (the fried balls in the video filled with octopus), karaage and pork belly steamed buns, karaage yakisoba, and hibachi chicken are also must orders!

NAGOYA HOUSE: 2156 Young Ave.

PizzaMe!

From Curtis Givens, of In Love Memphis, comes the hottest new pizza joint in East Memphis. PizzaMe! offers “gourmet pizza with an urban twist that’s lightning-fast.” This spot is Memphis, Memphis, Memphis energy with The Haven pizza with hood sauce and fried chicken to one with Big Bill’s BBQ Sauce and grilled chicken.

PIZZAME!: 2857 Kirby Rd #117

Sweet Musings Bakery & Cafe

This authentic Taiwanese bakery shop that specializes in pastries, cakes, coffee, and more. Sweet Musings has so many options on display that their bread and dessert cases are self-service so you can grab a tray and pick everything you want before checking out. The menu features items like rolled cakes, fruit tarts, and scallion pork floss buns. Don't know where to start? We suggest their best sellers--the Japanese cheesecake or sweet buns.

SWEET MUSINGS: 1890 N Germantown PKWY Suite 99, Cordova, TN 38106

The Archives Bar & Bistro

From Chef Phillip Dewayne, of Park + Cherry at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, comes The Archives Bar & Bistro located in a newly renovated space at Hotel Napoleon in downtown. The decor is stunning. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a menu that feels approachable yet elegant like their caviar flight or herb-crusted rack of lamb to smoked trout deviled eggs. For lunch, try the Archives burger or chicken salad croissant.

THE ARCHIVES: 179 Madison Ave.

The Overland

Described as "an elevated dining and cocktail experience, five floors up," The Overland is located in Germantown in the Thornwood. The inspiration behind the menu and restaurant is the rugged Northwest (think Yellowstone). Yes, elk is on the menu!

THE OVERLAND: 7800 Neshoba Rd.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
