A Degenerate Food Drive

Memphis-based alt-rock group Degenerate Breakfast is partnering with other local musicians to serve-up some good. The band announces it will host A Degenerate Food Drive concert benefitting Mid-South Food Bank at 6 p.m. on December 5. The cost of admission is a canned food item.

Featuring performances by Degenerate Breakfast, The Narrows, Zoë Dominguez and Sock Rocket, this all-ages event will be held at HavenHaus. Participating musicians are also hosting a raffle to increase donations of non-perishable food and non-food items. Each performing group will assemble a giveaway package of band merchandise. Attendees will get one raffle ticket for every two items donated beyond the can for admission. 

Non-perishable food items being accepted include canned meat, vegetables, fruit and soup, as well as dried beans, peanut butter, rice and pasta. Non-food items include paper towels, toilet paper, diapers, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant, detergent and cleaning supplies. All items must be in the original packaging. 

Host band Degenerate Breakfast, which released its debut album in June, has set a goal to raise at least 1,000 donated items. All donations will benefit Mid-South Food Bank, which distributes an average of 2.5 million meals a month through a network of 300 partner agencies in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
