Memphis, TN 38114

Description:
Transit Equity Day honors the legacy of Rosa Parks and centers the voices of Memphis’s more than 40,000 daily transit riders, creating space for community dialogue, shared learning, and collective action focused on public transportation equity and accessibility. This year’s theme, “We Organize. We Ride. We Rise.”, reflects the role of public transit as a civil right and a cornerstone of opportunity.
The program will feature community reflections, rider video stories connecting Rosa Parks’ legacy to present-day transit realities, and remarks by advocates and city officials addressing the current state and future of public transportation in Memphis. Participants will also engage in interactive action tables designed to amplify rider voices and encourage civic engagement around service quality, accessibility, and sustainable transit funding.
Transit Equity Day 2026 is intentionally designed to be fully accessible, with ASL interpretation, ADA-compliant seating, and accessible materials available throughout the event. Volunteers will be on site to assist participants and ensure accommodations are honored.
The event is open to transit riders, community members, advocates, and partners who share an interest in building a more equitable and accessible transit system for Memphis.
Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
