Mommy & Daddy Issues Poetry Slam

Hosted by Comedian Rob Love, Mommy & Daddy Issues Poetry Slam is a spoken word collaboration that captures the different angles of motherhood and fatherhood, angles that parents or outsiders may not always see. Bringing life into this world is a beautiful thing. There are many hurdles, milestones, and misunderstandings along the way. There are also just as many beautiful things to celebrate and honor. There are losses that require grieving people who have transitioned from this life, as well as people who are still living. This event will capture the essence of motherhood and fatherhood, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I can’t say poetry is therapy, but it has been very therapeutic, and sometimes healing comes through releasing. Bring a friend and come experience poetry night for yourself or come solo and meet new people along the way.

A friendly reminder that this event is a slam that will be scored by three judges and also consists of an open mic. The top poet per round will win $100 cash prizes. During round one, poets must discuss the theme of motherhood, fatherhood, or the lack thereof, in some way. Round two can be on any topic. If you’re interested in registering for the slam, text your stage name to 901-503-7418 by May 9th.
