Free Tickets to Iron and Wine (contest over), a Groundbreaking, a New Metal Museum Gate, and a Cat Show

Today, I'm giving away free tickets to the Iron and Wine concert at Minglewood Hall for Wednesday night, plus sharing some Memphis news from around town.

**congrats to Mitch who won the random drawing for the tickets**

Yesterday the May Bonus Clip for the I Love Memphis podcast went live. In the short segment, my cohost Kevin Cerrito and I talk about our favorite Memphis blogs and websites. Listen here - it's the first link. If you haven't yet listened to the full-length May ILM Podcast, go here - there are tons of tips for enjoying Barbecue Fest (which starts this week).

I've also updated the Memphis Blogroll

I have a pair of tickets to give away to Iron & Wine show tomorrow night at Minglewood Hall. To enter, you must comment on this post and tell me that you want to go by 3 p.m. today.

**Contest is over - congrats to Mitch who won the random drawing for the tickets**

I'll announce the winner right after that. (Tip: I'm also giving away a second pair of tickets on the I Love Memphis Instagram.) If you don't win, tickets are still available for $25 advance/$27 at the door.

On Saturday, I went to the Cat Fancier's Cat Show at the Agricenter. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the photo gallery.

The Blues Foundation broke ground on construction for the Blues Hall of Fame on Friday. Bobby Rush (left) and Eddie Shaw (right), both members of the Blues Hall of Fame, were the official "ground breakers" for the ceremony. The Hall of Fame museum, which will be right across the street from the National Civil Rights Museum on South Main, is supposed to be finished and open by May of next year.

Attention Memphis creatives: You can have your portfolio reviewed for free tonight by industry pros. Prodigi Arts is hosting the review and keynote talk tonight (that's May 13) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at their studio at 516 Tennessee St. Suite #123 (Emerge Memphis). Josh Horton of Hieroglyph Creative Co. will be the keynote speaker, and they'll give away a free one-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud - worth about $600. Go here for details.

On Sunday, the Metal Museum unveiled their new ironwork gates, which are adorned with rosettes of all shapes and styles. Here's a sampling of the details: For more info on visiting the Metal Museum, go here.

My daughter and I are both excited to see Iron and Wine tomorrow and will be going one way or another. That seid it would be super cool to win tickets and tell my daughter that they are a graduation present from Sam Beam and iLovememphis. (she is graduating high school tonight)

I would like the tickets because 1) I love Iron & Wine and 2) I have not had the chance to visit the Minglewood Hall and this would afford me the opportunity an 3) I have never won anything. ever.

It would be amazing to see Iron and Wine! Our Endless Numbered Days is a perfect album. His cover of "Such Great Heights" is flawless. This concert would be very interesting to see in a venue like Minglewood!
