Virtual Volunteer Day This Friday!

The best way to learn about local non-profits.

This Friday, April 23rd you can make a difference from a distance through Volunteer Odyssey's Virtual Volunteer Day.

Register for as many projects as you like here and join us at the top of each hour on April 23rd through our Facebook page.

Volunteer Odyssey will go live on their Facebook page with a local nonprofit at the beginning of each hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. These Show-and-Tells will walk you through each short, creative project to explain how you can support their mission and make a difference with things you already have on hand.

This is a great way to support our Memphis community from the comfort of your home or office.

Check out the lineup of projects and the nonprofits they support:

9:00 am, Kick off & Spreading Sunshine | Sunshine Birthday Cards

Join Spreading Sunshine’s Campaign to create birthday cards for the children they serve, and their families, to brighten their  birthday. You can add your own special touch and spread a little joy to families in the midst of hard times.

10:00 am, Memphis Botanic Garden | Spring Clean Scavenger Hunt

Kick off your annual spring cleaning projects with Memphis Botanic Garden in mind! MBG will provide volunteers with a list of common household items that they can use in their classrooms or at the garden.

11:00 am, Memphis Rox | Leave No Trace Clean-Up

Memphis Rox will explore and educate viewers on ways they can help to clean up their local environments and be mindful of their impacts towards nature as we move forward together, a staple that is implemented through the Memphis Rox mission and throughout the Soulsville Community.

12:00 pm, Volunteer Odyssey | Volunteer + Tell Story Submissions

One of the most helpful things you can do as a volunteer is to recruit more volunteers! When you share your volunteer experience, you inspire and motivate others to get involved and that’s exactly what we need. Volunteer and tell us about your experiences.

1:00 pm, Catholic Charities | Bare Necessities

Imagine what it is like to wonder where your next meal is coming from or how you will clothe your children. One in four of your Memphis neighbors live that reality, as 24.6% of residents live in poverty. Volunteers will help Catholic Charities provide our homeless community with the bare necessities they need.

2:00 pm, WYXR | Listener Diaries

WYXR is an eclectic, non-profit community radio station headquartered in the historic Crosstown Concourse building in Midtown Memphis. With over 70 volunteer DJs, they are pioneering a new platform for arts and culture while educating listeners on the sounds of Memphis. Being in the early stages, galvanizing new listeners is at the top of their needs. Volunteers will creatively help WYXR find new listeners and supporters while representing the voice of Memphis!

3:00 pm, Make-A-Wish | Card Campaign

Make-A-Wish Mid-South continues to grant transformative wishes to kids with critical illnesses in our community. Right now, sick kids are waiting for wishes. Imagine what you would do for a child you love.  Today, you have the chance to give these kids hope. Don’t wait for hope, create it by participating in their card campaign.

4:00 pm, Room in the Inn | Help from Home Videos

Volunteers will be able to help people experiencing homelessness without having to leave your house. Room in the Inn will use volunteer recordings to help entertain and soothe the younger population at Room in the Inn. This video project can be completed by adults, children, or the whole family!

5:00 pm, Celebrate the day by seeing your service in action!

Volunteer Odyssey is excited to see you to make a difference from a distance!
