Shop Local: Silk N Honey Boutique

UPDATE: Silk N Honey Boutique has transitioned into a permanent jewelry business known as SNH Linked. Learn more here.

Comfy and cute is the style of choice for many this season, but that doesn’t mean your look has to be boring. Whether you’re working from home all day or want a stylish outfit for running errands, SIlk N Honey Boutique can help you create a look that has the perfect balance of cozy and feminine.

Silk N Honey started as an online boutique in August 2018 and recently celebrated their 2nd birthday with the grand opening of their first brick and mortar store in Downtown Memphis!

I popped in recently to chat with the owner Tess Blakney and check out the BIPOC woman-owned boutique; they carry contemporary, on-trend clothing and accessories for the fashion-savvy girl who loves clothes, but likes to keep things stylishly simple.

Q&A With Silk N Honey Owner Tess Blakney

Kim: Why Downtown Memphis for your location?

Tess: Being from Southaven, I've always had an affinity for the Bluff City since I was a child. With Downtown Memphis filled with amazing local small businesses and restaurants, I knew it was the perfect location to open Silk N Honey's brick and mortar store.

Kim: What do you feel sets Silk N Honey Boutique apart from other shops?

Tess: Silk N Honey offers our customers an experience, rather than just a store that sells clothes. When our guests leave, my goal is for them to feel more confident and empowered whether it's from a conversation with a stylist or the purchase of a new dress or piece of jewelry.

Kim: What’s your favorite part about owning a boutique?

Tess: As a female entrepreneur, I love being my own boss and sharing my love of fashion with my customers. Being obsessed with fashion, my favorite part is going to various markets and picking out all of our inventory. We try to choose items that are trendy but inclusive of everyone (when it comes to size and price point), which ensures that everyone has an opportunity to shop with us.

Kim: How can people shop with you/keep up with what’s happening with the store?

Tess: Follow Silk N Honey on Instagram and Facebook for the latest sales, giveaways and fun (socially-distant) events we host at the boutique. If you don't have social media, visit our website to sign up for our newsletter at shopsilknhoney.com.
