Run Clubs to Join in Memphis

From casual group jogs to marathon training, these clubs welcome every pace and every face.

Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or someone who just wants to try running without the pressure of going it alone, Memphis has a run club for you. The city's running community has exploded in recent years, and the best part? Almost every group is free, welcoming to all paces, and built around something bigger than just logging miles.

Here's a roundup of Memphis run clubs to check out.

Hyper Focus

The vibe: Joy of movement, zero pretension.

Hyper Focus connects Memphis's running community through a simple but powerful idea: running should be fun, and no one should feel left out. Their runners range from 14-minute miles to 6-minute miles, and they'll be the first to tell you — despite what their Instagram might suggest — they're just a group of normal people who run for the joy of it. Their weekly schedule offers plenty of opportunities to show up:

  • Mondays at 6:30 PM — Running Club For All at Kuya
  • Thursdays at 6:30 PM — UofM Track
  • Saturdays at 8:00 AM — South Point Grocery

If you've been nervous or intimidated about joining a run club, this is the one to start with.

901 Run Club

The vibe: Every Pace, Every Face.

That's their motto, and they mean it. 901 Run Club is one of Memphis's most active running communities, welcoming everyone from casual joggers to marathon enthusiasts. They host regular Sunday group runs out of Crosstown Concourse with 2-mile and 4-mile route options, plus longer Scenic Saturday runs for those looking to push their distance. They also host special events like Brew Hops, Social Sundays, and even kids' runs.

Pop-up track workouts keep things interesting — follow them on Instagram and join their Strava group to stay in the loop.

Downtown Beer Runners

The vibe: Run first, beer second.

If your ideal post-run recovery involves a cold pint, Downtown Beer Runners is your crew. This group meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM for free 3-mile runs through Downtown Memphis, with the meeting location varying week to week. After the run, the group heads to a local spot for post-run drinks and socializing. It's laid-back, it's fun, and it's a great way to explore downtown on foot.

  • Wolf River Run — Wednesdays at 6 PM from the Germantown store. Most runners go 3–5 miles on the Wolf River trails or the Germantown Greenway.
  • Tour de Midtown — Thursdays at 6 PM from the Midtown store. Routes wind through Overton Park in the summer and Central Gardens in the winter. Most go 3–4 miles.
  • Track Workout — Tuesdays at 6 PM at the University of Memphis Old Field House Track. Expect about 3 miles of speed work, led by local running legend Paul Sax.
  • Marathon & Half Marathon Training — Saturday mornings at alternating Breakaway locations, designed to prepare runners for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon.
