Memphis to Host Pompeii: The Exhibition at Graceland – A Journey Through Time Awaits

Memphis is set to welcome an unparalleled historical experience this November with the debut of Pompeii: The Exhibition, arriving for a limited run at the Graceland Exhibition Center.

This renowned exhibit offers visitors an extraordinary look at the ancient city of Pompeii, frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

Through over 150 original artifacts, multimedia displays, and immersive simulations, the exhibit presents a rare opportunity to glimpse daily life in the Roman Empire and the moment nature reshaped it forever.

Opening November 15, Pompeii: The Exhibition invites guests into a stunning reconstruction of Pompeii, where artifacts like gladiator armor, ornate jewelry, cookware, and preserved murals reveal the lives, craftsmanship, and customs of the ancient city.

The experience is rich with discovery, featuring items on loan from the Naples National Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. One of the most poignant elements is the display of body casts – haunting impressions left by Pompeii’s inhabitants as they sought refuge from the eruption’s fury, now preserved in striking detail.

In addition to viewing these ancient relics, visitors can walk through an immersive journey using holograms, dramatic projections, and an innovative 4D theater. This blend of archaeology and cutting-edge technology brings the devastation of Vesuvius to life, offering an experience that’s both educational and emotionally impactful.

Timed-entry tickets are highly recommended for this limited engagement.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
