New Memphis Field Guide From Wildsam

For years I’ve been wishing Memphis could get the Wildsam treatment, and I’m happy to say it’s finally happened!

Wildsam creates unique small format field guide books that are filled with essays, illustrations, and lists after a city or region. Best of all (and this is not the case with every travel guide out there) they work with local artists and writers to create the books.

Wildsam’s Memphis guide is OUT and available for you! You can get 15% off your copy at wildsam.com with the code ILOVEMEMPHIS, so that's fancy. If you sign up for Wildsam's emails, you can get a free download of all six illustrated maps from book, created by Memphis artist Maggie Russell. Download the maps here. You can also pick up your copy at local bookstores and shops.

You might recognize some of the writers including Memphis Flyer Editor Jesse Davis and I Love Memphis contributor Wesley Morgan Paraham. Congratulations, Jesse and Wesley!

Inside you'll find guides to the best local restaurants, places to go, attractions, and an overview of the city's highlights and history. If you haven't seen a Wildsam guide before, I highly recommend taking a look and their thorough approach to city guide.

I can't wait to dig in to the stories and interviews with Memphians like artist Kong Wee Pang, journalist Michael Donahue, and environmental activist Justin Pearson.

There will be a launch party on Thursday, April 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stax Museum with a panel, food, and drinks—it's free but you will need to RSVP.
