Monster Market 2024: Memphis’ Spookiest Pop-Up Shop is Back!

It’s officially spooky season, Memphis! And with Halloween creeping around the corner, it’s time to celebrate one of the most anticipated pop-up shops: Monster Market.

I really love the Monster Market. Really, really love it. This isn’t your average seasonal store—it’s a local tradition, blending the eerie and the artistic, showcasing some of Memphis’ most talented makers and crafters in the creepiest, most creative ways possible.

Whether you're hunting for quirky art, spooky home decor, Monster Market has got you covered.

What is Monster Market?

Monster Market is self-described as “a freaky pop-up for weirdos like you!” pop-up experience, curated to celebrate the creepy, the cute, and everything in between.

This is a serious collection of curated goods from more than 100 designers, illustrators, printmakers, painters, sculptors, crafters, jewelers, and more. You’ll find everything from handmade jewelry to eerie sculptures, clothing, prints, ghoulish goodies for your home. Really there is something for every spooky soul.

If you're into the unusual, the supernatural, horror movies, or you just love a good haunt, this market is a must-visit!

Monster Market got its start in 2017 and was organized by Holtermonster, someone we are a huge fan of. You’ve probably seen her work as a sponsor for the Time Warp Drive-In series movie posters or for local musicians promoting their shows.

When and Where?

This year’s Monster Market will pop up from October 11-16, 2024, at The Medicine Factory in downtown. Opening night is always my favorite time to go. They'll have complimentary refreshments from Bain Barbecue, Whisks of Doom, Old Dominick, and Wiseacre, plus tunes by DJ St. Francis Elevator Ride–who also makes really cool VHS tees for this.

They have a ton of fun events planned this year from a Rumors and Legends in-store game demo, Make-a-Monster Workshops, spooky bake sales, a movie night, and a professional happy hour.

Want to start shopping now? Take a look at the Monster Market 2024 Lookbook. It'll give you a glimpse at many of the items that will be for sale. See all the incredible vendors that will have their goods for sale this year. Enjoy! Go and have a good time and get a little weird for us.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
