HighTee: Memphis’ First Virtual Country Club Redefines the Game

HighTee is a virtual country club that offers a modern take on the traditional club experience, blending high-end golf simulators, social events, and amenities without the exclusivity.

The club combines advanced golf technology with a relaxed, inclusive environment, creating a space where members can connect and enjoy unique experiences.

Editor's Note: Carrefour at Kirby Woods is moving forward demolition forcing HighTee to relocate. They plan to reopen in Laurelwood Shopping Center. While they renovate a new space, they will unfortunately have to be closed for some time. Go support them in their current location in the meantime!

Ethan Lee’s vision for a modern twist on the traditional country club has come to life with the opening of HighTee, a virtual country club in Germantown, which he runs with his wife Leiana.

Occupying the former Doc’s Wine Spirits and More liquor store at Carrefour at Kirby Woods, HighTee offers a redefined country club experience, minus the golf course but with a focus on community and cutting-edge amenities.

The idea for HighTee wasn’t driven by a lifelong love of golf. Lee began playing the sport at 25. Immersing himself in the world of golf, he gained coaching certifications and developed expertise in the field. Eventually, after the birth of their first child, the couple returned to Memphis to be closer to family.

Upon returning, Lee aimed to bring his golf skills and training to Memphis, a city with a less-developed golf scene than he was used to. He saw an opportunity to create something new and HighTee was born as a fresh take on a country club—one that offers a golf-club atmosphere without the barriers and exclusivity.

HighTee combines technology and social experience, featuring five Uneekor XO2 simulators.

In addition, the club boasts unique artificial-grass mats designed to mimic real greens. Services include lessons, club fittings, and party rentals. While High Tee won’t feature tennis, members can enjoy pickleball, expanding beyond the typical country club offerings.

Memberships are key to HighTee’s community-centered approach, with pricing options ranging from $150 for a silver monthly membership up to $364.47 for a family membership. There are also gold and platinum membership options available.

They also offer $40 per hour for walk-ins, making the club accessible for those curious to check it out.

HighTee also offers lessons, yoga classes, club builds, adjustments, grips, and more. Plans for spa amenities and other enhancements are in the works as the club already has plans to expand.

Beyond golf, the goal is to cultivate a relaxed, welcoming environment for members to connect and socialize. Regular weekly events and gatherings help build a sense of belonging and camaraderie among members.

A bar is already built in the space and once permits clear, they'll be able to serve beer and wine. In the meantime, it's BYOB.

With HighTee, Lee aims to redefine the traditional country club experience, prioritizing community, accessibility, and a more relaxed atmosphere. By blending technology with the classic feel of a golf club, HighTee offers a fresh alternative for golf enthusiasts and social seekers in the Memphis area.

Hello! I'm Jalyn Souchek, the Director of Content for I Love Memphis Blog! I love calling the 901 home. When I'm not running the blog you can find me cheering on the Grizzlies, at a concert, exploring a new restaurant or kicking back at one of our breweries. I hope you'll love experiencing Memphis with me.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
