Big Buffalo 50 Ultra Marathon

The Cancer Kickers Big Buffalo 50 is more than an ultramarathon. It’s a race with heart.

Held at the picturesque Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee, the Big Buffalo 50 welcomes runners of all levels with a distance for everyone. Participants can choose from a 50-mile ultra, 50K, 50K relay, or 10K, all set on scenic trails that showcase one of the largest urban parks in the country. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or taking on your first long-distance challenge, this event invites you to run with purpose.

This is also a family-friendly event designed to be enjoyed by runners, spectators, and supporters alike. Kids can burn off energy in the Ninja Gym, while runners refuel with post-race food and ice-cold beer. Plan to bring a tent and make a day of it. Relax, celebrate, and enjoy the beautiful backdrop of Shelby Farms Park with your family and friends.

The Big Buffalo 50 proudly serves as the largest annual fundraiser for Cancer Kickers Soccer Club, a Memphis-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing Comfort, Community, and Connection to children 18 and under who are fighting cancer or celebrating remission.

Founded by Michelle and Chris Clothier, Cancer Kickers began as a family passion project and has grown into a global movement of compassion. With no personal tie to childhood cancer, the Clothiers answered a calling to serve, creating an organization that reminds kids facing the toughest battles that they are never alone. Each child, lovingly called a “teammate,” is nominated by someone who cares for them and receives a personalized soccer kit complete with a custom jersey, ball, gear, and heartfelt touches. These kits are more than gifts; they are symbols of resilience, joy, and belonging.

To date, more than 3,200 children have received their own kit of courage. Cancer Kickers operates on a 100% model, meaning all overhead and operational costs are covered by dedicated supporters so that every dollar donated goes directly to the kids.

When you register for the Big Buffalo 50, you’ll have the option to donate to CKSC, and the impact is real and tangible. It costs $300 to deliver one complete kit to a child, which means:

Every relay team registered supports one child
Every four 50K runners support one child
Every three 50-mile runners support one child

Your miles matter. Your effort matters. Together, the running community can brighten a child’s day, lift a family’s spirits, and remind these brave kids that they are part of a team that believes in them.
