Movie maestro Baz Luhrmann (of Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet fame) has released his trailer for the upcoming Elvis movie starring Tom Hanks and Austin Butler.
The film, which was filmed in Australia (that's where Luhrmann is based) will be released on June 24, 2022 in theaters only.
If you're in the Memphis area, you can purchase your tickets in advance on the Malco website.

We are thinking about coming to Memphis to see the movie do you have any good pointers?
Holly Whitfield
Hi Mary! I think that sounds like a really fun idea! I like the Paradiso movie theater. The Powerhouse Cinema is more conveniently located to where most visitors hang out, but I'd skip their concessions and bar and eat in the South Main neighborhood. As for other pointers, check out the Memphis Cheat Sheet here: https://ilovememphisblog.com/memphischeatsheet

Just saw Baz Luhrmann's Elvis on HBO Max. Best Elvis movie I have ever seen. Austin Butler's recreation of Elvis is amazing. He truly channels the King's essence and spirit. Also, his singing was outstanding (especially as the 1968-1977 Elvis). Tom Hanks nearly steals the show as "The Colonel." First Elvis movie that I ever saw that dealt with Colonel Tom Parker. Priscilla, as always, is given very sympathetic and respectful treatment (It couldn't have been easy being married to Elvis Presley). The Re-creation of Beale Street, Graceland, and the International Hotel Showroom is truly Oscar worthy.
