Bar Limina Brings Bold Cocktails and Creative Collabs to the Edge District

The Edge District is on a roll lately, and the newest addition keeps the momentum going: Bar Limina, a cocktail-forward lounge with a focus on collaboration and good vibes.

Bar Limina is the kind of place that feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood for years, even though it’s brand new. It’s got that intentional vibe with every detail thought out, every element connected to the folks around it.

Located on Madison Ave., in the former Inkwell space, Bar Limina is in great company right next to The Ugly Art Co., JEM Dining, and Rootstock Wine. And they’re not just neighbors, they’re already teaming up. Art from Ugly Art hangs on the walls (and it’s for sale), JEM contributed an Earl Grey pot de crème to the dessert menu, and Rootstock GM Charlie Purpura helped shape the wine list.

Bar Limina comes from Josh Conley, who also runs the Etowah Collective with Cole Jeanes (of Kinfolk). If you’ve been to one of their pop-up dinners, you know the vibe: intimate, chef- and bartender-driven, and set in unexpected places like their recent dinner inside the abandoned Sterick Building.

The idea behind Etowah, and now Bar Limina, is to spotlight Memphis’s food and drink talent, create more spaces for creativity, and put the city on the map when it comes to modern hospitality experiences. Bar Limina feels like a natural extension of that vision. It’s elegant but unpretentious, with dark, warm tones and moody lighting. The color palette comes from the building’s original 1938 tile floors which is fitting, since it was once a tile and marble showroom.

Bar Limina is a project and recipe rolodex 15 years in the making by Conley. The cocktails will change often, but early highlights include the Fig Old Fashioned, the White Gloves (a Marcona almond-washed gin martini), and the Ultimo Rey, a spin on a pisco sour. There’s also a thoughtful list of non-alcoholic cocktails.

Bar manager Jenna Abu, previously of Catherine & Mary’s, is one to watch. Her signature drink on the menu is Uncle T’s Nightcap No. 2—a bold, mezcal-forward negroni-style cocktail.

To go with your drink: a tight food menu with cheese and charcuterie, a smoked onion dip from Hard Times Deli (another new Edge neighbor), and house-made pâté from Buster’s Butcher. The cheese lineup is solid. Don’t skip the P’tit Basque.

Bar Limina officially opens May 30, 2025, and will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 4–10 p.m. Find them at 631 Madison Ave. Reservations are highly recommended.

Still wondering how to say it? We had to ask too! It’s Lemon-uh.
