Amani Bath Brings Hot Spring Baths to South Main

A new bath spa located in South Main brings the Hot Springs to Memphis with their mineral baths, massages, and skin services.

Go ahead and skip that drive to Hot Springs if you’re looking for a therapeutic bath. Amani Bath, a new bath spa in South Main, specializes in mineral baths that help soothe aches and pains while also providing a relaxing experience.

As Memphis' newest addition to our wellness scene, Amani Bath embodies the spirit of renewal and relaxation. Owner Emma Crystal, a licensed massage therapist, opened the spa in November 2023 at 306 S Main St.

There are two private bathrooms at Amani Bath that are modeled after hot springs, mineral-rich water, that is soothing for aches and pains. While Memphis doesn’t have natural hot springs, Crystal can recreate the hot springs experience by using Medicine Springs, a company that distills minerals from thermal hot springs.

“The minerals become transdermal and get below your skin and do what they need to,” Crystal explains.

Amani Bath offers three mineral blends for their therapeutic baths: joint, skin, or sport. Joint can help arthritis; skin, based on the Blue Lagoon of Iceland, is intended to help skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne; and sport helps with soreness, fatigue, and muscle recovery.

Crystal offers a variety of massages, facials, steam showers, and more. Here’s a full list of their services. The most popular service is Couples Clean In Love which offers a couples massage, a bath soak, and dessert with drinks.

Formerly an employee in the IT world, the spa represents Crystal’s own journey with healing–healing from a job that left her little joy.

To ease her coworkers experiencing stress, Crystal made it a habit to be the person to provide neck and shoulder massages. But it was through that space, she found her purpose in helping others relax and heal.

“When you are working for someone, they just care about the work being done and not your physical body,” Crystal said. “... You leave [Amani Bath] knowing someone cares about you.”

Hello! I'm Jalyn Souchek, the Director of Content for I Love Memphis Blog! I love calling the 901 home. Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
