We may have Bridgerton to thank for the increasing popularity and desire to enjoy a nice cup of tea, light sandwiches, and sweets. In addition, these locations are not restricted to afternoon teas and offer a la carte menu items and drinks.
1. Enchanted Tea Lounge
Crosstown | 433 North Cleveland Street
Tuesday - Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For those looking for an authentic yet special afternoon tea experience, Enchanted Tea Lounge should be first on your list. This elegant tea lounge prides themselves on having an authentic English afternoon tea complete with Victorian loveseats, adorable tea sets, trays, and photo opportunities. They have likely the largest tea selections, from England, with 70+ varieties. The food menu changes routinely but from first hand knowledge we can testify that they serve up delicious eats. Reserve a tea time of your own or attend an upcoming event. There are options for children too and you can also stop in for just a cup of tea too.
2. The Peabody Hotel
Downtown | 149 Union Ave.
Thursday - Sunday, Noon to 3:30 p.m.
A traditional English afternoon tea served inside the mega-elegant Chez Philippe dining area. Guests will be served with their tea; a three-course menu of savory tea sandwiches, sweets, and scones from the Peabody Pastry Shop. Caffeine-free children’s teas are also available.
3. 17 Berkshire
Overton Square | 2094 Trimble Place
Tuesday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7p.m., Sunday, Noon to 5 p.m.
We love the bright and airy vibes of 17 Berkshire. In addition to the delicious treats and lattes, this patisserie also offers a great afternoon tea. Each adult tea includes tea sandwiches, scones, a shared side of lemon curd, and petit pastries with a pot of tea per couple. Children can also participate with a smaller portion of treats and can choose between hot tea or hot chocolate.
4. Nostalgic Tea Rooms
Collierville | 684 West Poplar Ave.
Tuesday - Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nostalgic Tea Rooms can be found located inside the Sheffield Antiques Mall. The family behind this high tea experience is originally from England so it can’t get more authentic than that! This is also the most affordable option for an afternoon tea experience. Each high tea feeds two people and comes with a selection of English finger sandwiches, mini desserts, and tea or substitute beverage. Occasionally, they also offer crumpets (which happens to be one of the hardest treats to find in the Memphis-metro).
